Nintendo Departs Brazil Game Market

JAN. 13, 2015 • Citing high import duties, Nintendo of America announced it was withdrawing entirely from the Brazil game market for now. The gamemaker said it made the decision because its current distribution model was “unsustainable.” Nintendo’s partner in the country is Gaming do Brasil, which has been instructed to no longer distribute Nintendo consoles or games in the country. Quarterly Results For Major Video Game Companies

OCT. 30, 2014 • A number of major video game companies released quarterly results for the quarter ending September 30. Electronic Arts reported net revenue (non-GAAP) of $1.22 billion, up from $1 billion for the same period in 2013. Packaged goods accounted for $767 million and $692 million respectively of that net revenue, while digital sales brought in $453 million, up from $348 million. Nintendo Super Smash Bros. Sales Conquers World

OCT. 7, 2014 • Having already amassed sales of 1.42 million in Japan since September 13, Super Smash Bros. 3DS was released in the Americas, Australia and Europe on October 3 to strong consumer demand. Purchases in these additional markets have boosted total worldwide Super Smash Bros. sales of the game to 2.8 million. The strong performance has led Nintendo Co. Nintendo Taiwan Office is Closed

APRIL 22, 2014 • After 23 years in operation Nintendo is closing down its Taiwan branch on May 31. Most employees of Nintendo Taiwan (Nintendo Phuten Co., Ltd.) in Taipei will exit the office by the end of April, however. OCT. 30, 2013 • Since Nintendo Co. Ltd. reduced the price of the Wii U by $50 on September 20 in North America and Europe Wii U sales have increased.
