NOV. 4, 2009 • THQ has signed with Digital River for the latter to manage a digital download store for the publisher’s PC games. Titles available will include Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and Red Faction: Guerrilla.
Impact: Digital River is a powerhouse for e-commerce solutions. The company basically provides a turn-key solution that can work as a back-end for publishers wishing to start their own store. However, it should be noted that even as publisher’s open their online stores there is still the challenge of bringing customers in the door. In an online world there is still the need to drive consumer demand and work with multiple distribution partners. Nevertheless, Digital River and its numerous competitors continue to make it easy for content providers to offer complete digital distribution options.
