Video Game Consoles: Consumer Perspectives
About this product
The DFC Intelligence video game console consumer perspective program asks users’ opinions on the video game console systems from Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. The focus is brand perceptions and awareness, current and planned ownership, purchase intention, key features, spending targets, and refresh cycles. The product is available as both a summary report and/or a full dataset that can be incorporated into a client’s data program of choice.
Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony are engaged in a constant battle to get consumers to buy the latest video game hardware. As the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch smashed previous sales records with each selling over 100 million units, the focus is on new hardware systems.
The DFC Intelligence Consumer Perspectives regularly asks our panel of consumers about their opinions on the major console systems. This includes open ended-responses specifically on the PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo brands
Consumer surveys are done on a regular basis and can address the latest issues such as the Microsoft purchase of Activision Blizzard and how it may impact console purchase decisions.
The focus of the console survey is on perception, ownership, purchase intent, and key features.
- Brand perceptions and ownership for Sony PlayStation 4/5, Microsoft Xbox One, Series X/S, Nintendo Switch
- Purchase intention for new console systems and software
- Key Features: Ranking and importance including pricing, software, availability, online services, VR, game exclusives, back catalog and accessories
The results of the survey are available in a summary Excel report. There is also the option to subscribe to our full survey program which includes reports and full data results, or purchase a survey’s full data results via Excel/CVS/SPSS. Premium subscribers have the ability to add custom questions to future surveys.
