MARCH 4, 2008 • The Electronic Software Association quietly closed its New York City office which it maintained for many years. No reason was announced for the closure. The office was best known for dealing with state-level video game legislation. The ESA will continue operations from its Washington D.C. headquarters.
Impact: It’s hard to escape the perception that the ESA remains a downsized organization following the departure of Doug Lowenstein more than a year ago. First the E3 show was trimmed in scope and impact, now the organization is closing its office in the world’s premier broadcast media city. What next?
