MARCH 7, 2008 • THQ got some much needed good news with reports of brisk sales of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II. The PC title raced ahead to the top of computer game charts. With estimates of selling 300,000 units at retail in the U.S., in the U.K., the game did well enough to come in at No.3 on the overall sales chart behind Street Fighter IV and Wii Fit.
Impact: The new Warhammer 40,000 title may be a benefi ciary of the success of Mythic’s Warhammer Online. In DFC Intelligence’s recent survey of over 50,000 MMOG users it was found that about 30% of Warhammer Online users also had the first Dawn of War title installed. This compared with only about 10% of World of Warcraft users.
