Quarterly Results For Major Video Game Companies

OCT. 30, 2014 • A number of major video game companies released quarterly results for the quarter ending September 30. Electronic Arts reported net revenue (non-GAAP) of $1.22 billion, up from $1 billion for the same period in 2013. Packaged goods accounted for $767 million and $692 million respectively of that net revenue, while digital sales brought in $453 million, up from $348 million. JUNE 25, 2014 • DFC Intelligence has announced that for the second time this year they are significantly raising their five-year video game forecast.  Overall game software revenue is expected to go from $64 billion in 2014 to $100 billion in 2018.  This includes revenue from PC games, console games and mobile games, but does not include hardware spending on game devices. By 2018 the game market is likely to be split fairly evenly between console, PC and mobil.....

FEB. 18, 2014 • DFC Intelligence analyst Jeremy Miller attended Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s 2014 Preview event in Santa Monica on February 10. Sony PlayStation vice president of marketing John Koller opened the event with updates and stats on the PlayStation business.
