APRIL 28, 2014 • For decades there has been speculation about the thousands of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial game cartridges that Atari, Inc. supposedly buried in the desert back in 1983. Now they have been found. Thanks to a partnership between Xbox Entertainment Studios, Fuel Ent., and the multiplatform media company Lightbox, a dig was sponsored at a landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico to search for the discarded games for a documentary called: Atari: Game Over. .....

CCP Cancels Vampire MMO

Titanfall Xbox One Bundle at $450

MARCH 25, 2014 • Sharp-eyed gamers awoke to find a $50 price reduction on the Titanfall Xbox One bundle at major national retailers in the United States. Amazon.com Best Buy Co. Microsoft Acquires Gears of War IP

JAN. 28, 2014 • Epic Games’ Gears of War franchise has been acquired by Microsoft Studios. Financial terms were not disclosed but the deal secures the IP for Microsoft including rights to all existing and future games, entertainment experiences and merchandise. DayZ Alpha Sells 1 Million

JAN. 14, 2014 • Bohemia Interactive’s survival horror game DayZ has amassed sales of one million units on Steam’s Early Access program since the alpha became available to purchase on December 16. Early Access is both a crowdsource funding mechanism, as well as a community building opportunity. Dota 2 Officially Launches

DEC. 18, 2013 • Access to Dota 2 is now open to all players. Last July Valve ended the Dota 2 beta and officially launched the game – sort of.
