ZeniMax Acquires Tango Gameworks

OCT. 28, 2010 • Fresh off of receiving a $150 million round of investment from Providence Equity Partners, ZeniMax Media is back on the acquisition hunt. Shinji Mikami’s Japanese studio Tango Gameworks was snapped up for an undisclosed amount. Mikani is best known as one of the creators of the Resident Evil franchise. Within a week the company had also acquired Swedish developer Machinegames, which was promptly renamed to ZeniMax Sweden. .....

DeNA Acquires Ngmoco

OCT. 12, 2010 • DeNA, the company behind Mobage Town mobile social game platform in Japan, acquired San Francisco Bay Area iPhone game developer Ngmoco for $400 million. The acquisition was one of the largest ever for an iPhone studio. DeNA’s intends to integrate its Mobage.....

Nexon Takes Stake in BoomBang Games

OCT. 5, 2010 • Nexon Co., Ltd. has invested in Spanish online game developer BoomBang Games, acquiring 32% of the latter’s shares. Based in Barcelona, BoomBang designs Flash-based titles that encourage social networking and will appeal to Spanish-speaking teens around the world. Zynga Buys Dextrose

SEPT. 25, 2010 • Zynga has purchased German game engine developer Dextrose. The latter is known for its Aves engine, which supports high-end gameplay in a browser window. Dextrose will become Zynga Germany in Frankfurt.
