The Nintendo Direct event on February 8 highlighted the upcoming Nintendo Switch products.  A major focus was on the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom which launches May 12, 2023, at $70 for the basic version and $130 for the collector’s edition. Nintendo Lowers Switch Forecast Again

For the third fiscal quarter ending 12/31/22, Nintendo announced revenue declined 8% to ¥638,204.  Switch unit sales declined 23% in Q3 to 8.2 million.  For the full fiscal year ending 3/31/23, Nintendo lowered its forecast for Switch hardware units to 18 million. Activision Blizzard Sees Bookings Soar

For the third fiscal quarter ending 12/31/22, Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ: ATVI) saw bookings soar to $3.56 billion, up 45% from the previous year’s quarter.  Net revenue was $2.3 billion with $1.2 billion in deferred revenue.  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II saw the highest opening quarter sell-through in franchise history.  Blizzard reported its highest quarterly net bookings. Sony Game and Network Services Revenue Soars

Sony Group (NYSE: SONY) reported a 13% year-to-year revenue increase for the third quarter ending 12/31/22.  The biggest increase in revenue was the Games and Network Services division which saw revenue increase 53% to ¥1,246,549 million (about $10 billion). For the 4th quarter ending 12/31/22, AMD revenue was up 16% over the previous year to $5.6 billion.  For the full year 2022 AMD revenue was up 44% to $23.6 billion.  Net income for the year was down 58% to $1.32 billion. For the third quarter ending 12/31/22, Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA) reported net revenue increased 5% over the previous year’s quarter to $1.88 billion.  Net income for the quarter was $204 million, up from $66 million for the previous year’s quarter.
