Redken Labs Tries Sponsored Video Game

NOV. 5, 2010 • Redken Labs has a prominent sponsored console game project aimed at attracting young women to its brand. The firm sells its beauty products only through professional salons, and none of its competitors has ventured into gaming yet as a marketing vehicle. New Free-to-Play Battlefield Heroes Title

NOV. 5, 2010 • Since launching its Free-to-Play Battlefield Heroes, Electronic Arts has amassed more than 6 million registered users, and has decided there’s room for a second F2P title in the franchise. Xbox 360 Console Sales Up

OCT. 29, 2010 • Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices division rides into the holiday season with good tidings. Xbox 360 console sales were up 38 percent for the quarter ending Sept. 30, with 2.8 million units sold. The  division reported quarterly revenue of $1.8 billion, up 27% from 2009. ZeniMax Acquires Tango Gameworks

OCT. 28, 2010 • Fresh off of receiving a $150 million round of investment from Providence Equity Partners, ZeniMax Media is back on the acquisition hunt. Shinji Mikami’s Japanese studio Tango Gameworks was snapped up for an undisclosed amount. Mikani is best known as one of the creators of the Resident Evil franchise. Within a week the company had also acquired Swedish developer Machinegames, which was promptly renamed to ZeniMax Sweden. .....

Another Chinese Wii Clone from 3DiJoy

OCT. 28, 2010 • There’s another Wii clone in the works for the Chinese market that is taking advantage of the government’s restrictions on game consoles made outside the country.
