On March 3, 2017 launched the Nintendo Switch console/portable game system.  Through the end of 2017 this system shipped nearly 15 million units.  This made the first year of the Switch one of the best-selling for any game system.  The hype around the Switch is resulting in a rush to create content for the system.  While the Switch is clearly a success, past Nintendo systems have been a struggle for third party content developers.  The DFC Intelligence Nintendo Switch brief takes a detailed look at the Switch platform and the business opportunity it represents.  Overall Nintendo Switch sales for software, both packaged and online are expected to peak around $7 billion.  This is less than the $11 billion the PlayStation 4 generated in 2017.
