{"id":4660,"date":"2008-07-30T15:31:45","date_gmt":"2008-07-30T22:31:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dfcint.com\/dossier\/?post_type=news&#038;p=4660"},"modified":"2014-10-21T20:06:55","modified_gmt":"2014-10-22T03:06:55","slug":"sce-sales-up-to-2-14b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dfcint.com\/dossier\/sce-sales-up-to-2-14b\/","title":{"rendered":"SCE Sales Up to $2.14B"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_12192\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12192\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-12192  \" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dfcint.com\/dossier\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/SCE-Logo-S.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"254\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12192\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SCE saw its sales rise 16.8% to $2.14 billion based on increased sales of its PS3 and PSP hardware.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>JULY 30, 2008 \u2022 For the first fiscal quarter ending June 30, Sony Corp. reported that Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) saw its sales rise 16.8% to $2.14 billion based on increased sales of its PS3 and PSP hardware compared to the previous year.\u00a0 More importantly SCE reported operating income of over $50 million, versus a loss of over $250 million for the previous quarter.\u00a0 Software sales for the PS3 were up 385% to 22.8 million.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><em>Impact:\u00a0According to Sony, PS2 hardware and software sales both contributed to the profit, although they were off 43% and 38% respectively.\u00a0Sony also reported that the improved operating performance of the PS3, through hardware cost reductions and increased software sales, helped improve operating performance.\u00a0However, it was unclear whether the PS3 business actually made it out of the red.\u00a0Clearly the PSP is the quiet performer in the bunch.\u00a0 Hardware sales for the PSP in the first quarter were up 75% to 3.72 million.\u00a0It will be crucial to see if SCE can continue to keep the business in the black.
