Motion-Control Lenovo Desktop

lenovo_a600-SJAN. 4, 2009 • Lenovo intends to release an all-in-one desktop PC during 2009 that includes a wireless motion-sensitive game controller that mimics the input device from Nintendo’s Wii. The remote can also be used to operate the television functions of the PC, The computer maker intends to include a bundle of motion-input games with the IdeaCentre A600 system, which is expected to start at $999.

Impact: Without a Wii launch in China, there’s plenty of room for others to provide a Wii-type experience. There already is a local video game system imitation called the Vii, now Lenovo is entering the fray. Given the high proportion of Chinese gamers who use PCs, and new Chinese studios looking to secure their own online niches, Lenovo’s new system might inspire an online PC motion-control segment that could spread globally.
