JULY 21, 2008 • EA Sports president Peter Moore told the Financial Times that he expects the Wii to hold the same market share power in this console generation that the PS2 held in the last.  “It looks to me as if the Wii is going to have at least half the installed base of the overall industry and the Xbox 360 and PS3 are going to fight over the balance, based on the run-rates we’re seeing,” Moore told the newspaper.

Impact: Peter Moore left the Microsoft Xbox 360 team shortly after last year’s E3.  As a member of EA, it now seems Moore holds views more closely in line with DFC Intelligence’s forecasts.  What remains unclear is the negative financial impact this could have on EA and other publishers.  EA in particular has been very weak on Nintendo platforms.  The company steadfastly refused to heed the warning signs nearly two years ago that the Wii could be the leader this generation.  Now the company may pay the price.
